Troubleshooting Tips
For the Prestige IQ® Monitor

If your test result appears to be higher or lower than you expected, or it does not agree with the way you feel, follow these steps. Please note -- the references to section numbers refer to your product owner's booklet. If you do not have your Prestige IQ® Owner's Booklet, you can download a PDF of it.

  1. Turn the Test Strip over and check the Color Spot to see if you have applied enough blood.
    • If the entire area of the Color Spot shows full color development, go to Step 2 below.
    • If the entire area of the Color Spot does not show full color development (not enough blood), or if the Color Spot appears “wet” (too much blood), go to Step 5 below.
  2. Check to see if the vial of Test Strips you are using has NOT expired.

  3. Check to see that the Code displayed in the Monitor matches the Calibration Code printed on the vial of Test Strips you are using.

  4. Clean the Test Window of the Monitor (see section 7 of owner's booklet). After cleaning, carefully replace the Test Strip Platform and perform a Standard Strip test to confirm that the Platform is firmly in place.

  5. Repeat the test with a new Test Strip, taking special care to follow all instructions exactly. Check the Color Spot of the Test Strip BEFORE inserting the Strip into the Monitor to make sure that you have applied enough blood. If you have applied enough blood to the Test Spot, insert the Test Strip into the Monitor. If the second test result appears to be incorrect, go to Step 6 below.

  6. Perform a Standard Strip test to ensure that your Monitor is working correctly. If the Standard Strip test result is within the range printed on the Standard Strip label, go to step 7 below. If the Standard Strip test result is NOT within the range printed on the Standard Strip label, clean the Test Window. After replacing the Test Strip Platform, perform another Standard Strip test. If this test result is within the range printed on the Standard Strip label, go to Step 7 below. If this test result is out of range, call Technical Service at 1-800-342-7226.

  7. Perform a Glucose Control test to ensure that your System (Monitor, Test Strips, and your testing technique) is working correctly.

  8. If both Steps 6 and 7 give acceptable results, then your blood glucose test results are correct.

  9. If you still feel that the test results may not be correct, contact your doctor or healthcare professional, or call the toll free number provided for technical assistance. 1-800-342-7226.

  10. If your Monitor displays an error message, please refer to Section 9 of your owner’s booklet, DISPLAY MESSAGES, for further instructions.

  11. If your Monitor beeps and flashes the “Low Battery” symbol, then shuts off, your battery is too low to test. Replace the battery.

Always refer to your Prestige IQ® Owner's Booklet for complete testing details.
